Omaha growing in popularity in Malta

The Omaha poker variant has been almost absent on the island so far, but its popularity is now growing.
The game was first introduced mid-2009 by Dragonara Casino, with a low buy-in, once-a-month tournament. Starting this month, this event becomes a weekly tournament, played on Wednesdays (see our Tournament Calendar for details). Omaha is now present in three of the four Maltese casinos. Although not frequent, Omaha cash games have been taking place at Portomaso Casino since the beginning of this year, thanks to newly trained dealers. And Casino di Venezia has started to include a weekly Omaha tournament in its program as well.
Quite popular among the Scandinavian poker community in Malta, there is no doubt that Omaha will become – slowly but surely – a strong component of the Maltese poker scene.
