Mediterranean Poker Cup kicks off in Malta

The Mediterranean Poker Cup (MPC) 2010 has started at the Portomaso Casino in Malta. Dozens of poker players from Russia, Italy and Malta will compete during a whole week of intensive poker.

The competition has started today with the Main Event, a €1,100 Texas Hold’em poker tournament. 63 players will battle during two days, for a total prize pool of €62,080.

The whole final table will get paid. First prize € 21.350, second €12.400, third 8.070.

The field include dozens of Russian players, aswell as players from Italy, France, The Netherlands, Sweden and of course Maltese players. The only Maltese female player is Jackie Cachia, she also was the only Maltese woman who managed to qualify via a satellite, early morning this saturday. Only 4 women tried to challenge the men in this event, even if there were many for the satellite.

After the Main Event, MPC will feature six other poker tournaments that will take place at Portomaso Casino, including a €3,000 VIP Tournament.

The Mediterranean Poker Cup, part of the PCM Tour series of poker events, was brought to Malta by the Russian Poker Club Management and Pryma Gaming.
